Hey Guys: Happy Wednesday!
Continuing on with my girl’s weekend away in Hampton Beach, after our massages we checked into the Ashworth Hotel.
I didn’t know anything about where to stay but the Ashworth popped up and they had all the amenities we were looking for. They were right on the beach, could walk to everything, had a lounge, had dinner and breakfast, got good reviews and was reasonably priced.
I booked on-line about 3 weeks before our stay and I got a side ocean view for $258.00 for two nights. We had looked into other places that even in off season was $179.00 a night. Ashworth was a steal!
Parking is limited at the hotel but we had free Valet Service. We just gave him the keys and they took care of it for us.
When we checked in the receptionist told us we had a free upgrade! We now had a room that directly over looked the beach with a small balcony.
The receptionist was super friendly and helpful. Anytime we need anything they were right there to help.
The room was a good size with 2 double beds and a sizable bathroom. I didn’t feel cramped at all in it at any time. It was clean and comfortable and had a lovely view!
On Saturday night after we got back from dinner we headed down to the bar. The bar was packed but we found 2 seats squeezed into a corner. I wanted a Blue Moon but they didn’t have it. The bartender suggested a beer that was similar and I have to say, it was really good.
At 9:00 a DJ started playing music and as soon as he did the crowd swarmed the dance floor. He started off playing older music but then played top 40 songs to older popular songs. It was a good mix and people seemed to be having a good time. Sue and I couldn’t really get out of our seats so we just danced right there in the chairs.
Sue asked the bartender if it was always this busy on a Saturday night and he said “yes”. Locals must come here as there really isn’t much open this time of the year.
We headed back to our room at about 11:00 and went to bed. The beds were very comfortable and I got a good night sleep. Sue could even hear the ocean during the night!
We got up the next morning to a beautiful day and we walked across the street to the beach and took a walk. It was a gorgeous morning with lots of folks out with their dogs.
We got back and grabbed some free coffee from the breakfast dining area. We ate breakfast there on Monday morning and it was good food, excellent service and good prices. I got an Egg sandwich with goat cheese! Not many people offer goat cheese as an option and it was yummy!
The hotel was so convenient to everything and the Valet parking was a snap.
We had a quick dinner at the bar on Sunday night before our concert. I just had French Onion soup and Sue had a salad.
We met a bunch of people also going to the Hall and Oates concert. We debated if we should walk or drive to the Casino but some folks we shared a table with told us definitely to walk. They said if you have anything to drink we will get nabbed pulling out of the parking lot. Apparently the cops wait for you to leave and then stop people. So, we decided walking was the way to go.
It was a quick 5 minute walk and many people were walking. There was plenty of police presence and we felt completely safe.
After the concert we went back to the Ashworth’s bar and ran into the same folks we had seen before the concert. We chatted for a bit and then headed back up to bed.
All in all, the stay was great. I would highly recommend the Ashworth. The location was great, it has everything you need (including a heated pool and exercise room that we didn’t try) and it was reasonable. In the summer the rates obviously go up. It is dead smack on the beach, so what can you expect? I could see it would be noisy in the summer as you are right on the strip but hey, where there is action, there is noise!
